One of the first decisions that you’ll make after booting up NBA 2K27 for the first time is selecting the difficulty mode that you want to play on. Unlike some other sports games where the difficulty doesn’t change much depending on what you choose, the mode you pick in NBA 2K can have a huge impact on your gameplay experience.

So, unless you’re a grizzled veteran of the franchise, you’ll want to know exactly which difficulty mode is right for you before playing too much 2K27. You can try each mode for a few hours, but that can take a long time, so check out our guide below for a quick rundown of the difficulty modes in 2K27 and which one you should choose.

All Difficulty Modes In NBA 2K27 Explained

To find the different difficulty modes in 2K27, all you have to do is go to the main menu, click the gear icon in the list of modes, and then click “Settings.” Here, the first option is “Game Difficulty,” and you can click it to view and change your selected mode.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the six different difficulty modes you can choose from:

  • Semi-Pro: Some previous NBA 2K experience, familiar with basic controls
  • Pro: Traditional default NBA 2K experience, presents a challenge
  • All-Star: Veteran NBA 2K players looking for an elevated challenge
  • Superstar: Serious NBA 2K players with years of experience and a deep understanding of the game
  • Hall of Fame: Players looking for the ultimate challenge and skill-based competitive play

Which NBA 2K27 Difficulty Mode Should You Choose?

Of course, the difficulty mode you select should likely be in relation to your experience with the franchise or sports games in general. If you’re a brand-new player, then you’ll want to pick Rookie, as that will help you familiarize yourself with the mechanics in 2K27 before getting too deep into the gameplay. On the other hand, if you’re someone with a decade of experience, then Superstar or Hall of Fame would be the way to go.

What about players who are somewhere in between, though? It ultimately depends on what you’re playing 2K27 for. If you want to party up with friends to form a team and play online against other real players, then you’ll want to set the difficulty as high as possible, as skill-based matches will use Hall of Fame difficulty.

However, if you limit yourself to mainly solo game modes, such as myNBA or MyCareer, then you can set the difficulty anywhere between Semi-Pro and All-Star, as these modes still provide a challenge to solo players without being overly easy or difficult. If you feel the mode you pick leans too far in one direction, though, solo modes in 2K27 allow you to change the difficulty at any time, so feel free to experiment and swap between modes as much as you’d like.
