Nintendo Switch 2 sports games include Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, Madden NFL 27, NBA 2K27, EA Sports FC 27, WWE 2K26, and Mario Tennis Fever. Sports Resort released on October 22, 2026, while the original Nintendo Switch Sports is a separate game that also works on Switch 2 with compatible controllers.
That distinction matters when you search for sports on Nintendo’s newer console. Some games were built for Switch 2, some received a dedicated Switch 2 edition, and others run as original Switch software. The platform label helps you choose the right version before comparing its modes and features.

Which sports games have released on Nintendo Switch 2?
The lineup covers licensed team sports, motion-controlled activities, golf, skating, and racing. These are the principal releases covered in this guide, rather than a claim to list every sports title in the eShop.
These are standard release dates, not the start of premium early access. Regional calendar dates can differ for a simultaneous digital launch; Inazuma Eleven’s date above uses the Japanese announcement’s time zone. Winning Post’s date refers specifically to its Japanese release.
Is Nintendo Switch Sports Resort the same as Switch Sports?
No. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is the newer Switch 2 exclusive, and Nintendo Switch Sports is the original Switch game. Owning one does not give you the other or automatically add the newer game’s activities to the older release.
Sports Resort includes 12 sports: tennis, bowling, archery, boxing, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, golf, thumb wrestling, prop plane, skateboarding, and power cruising. Its motion controls use Joy-Con 2 in different ways, including mouse controls for skateboarding. Island exploration and the solo Island Crown mode provide more to do between individual matches.
For a group in the same room, check the selected sport’s player and controller requirements. The game supports TV and tabletop play, with up to four players on one system where the activity allows it. It does not support ordinary handheld play, and a game supporting four local players does not mean every event is a simultaneous four-player contest.
Can the original Nintendo Switch Sports use Joy-Con 2?
Yes. Nintendo’s compatibility guidance allows Joy-Con 2 for supported activities in Nintendo Switch Sports. The important exception is the Leg Strap: Joy-Con 2 does not fit that accessory, so Leg-Strap Mode requires an original Joy-Con connected wirelessly to Switch 2.
Neither the Switch Pro Controller nor the Switch 2 Pro Controller replaces the required motion controllers. Handheld Mode is unsupported, too. This is worth checking before arranging a multiplayer evening, particularly if you have kept the game but no longer have your original controllers.
Which football basketball and wrestling games are available?
Madden NFL and EA Sports FC
The announcement that FC and Madden were heading to Switch 2 has now produced multiple annual releases. Madden NFL 26 arrived in August 2025, followed by Madden NFL 27 a year later. EA Sports FC 26 and FC 27 supply the licensed soccer alternatives.
Choose the named annual edition you actually want. A listing for the original Switch version of FC is not interchangeable with the native Switch 2 release, even when the cover looks similar. Likewise, a game having the same name on several platforms does not establish identical visuals, online features, or performance.
NBA 2K and WWE 2K
NBA 2K26 and NBA 2K27 are available as native Switch 2 basketball games. WWE 2K25 was the first of the two recent WWE releases on the hardware, with WWE 2K26 following in March 2026.
The annual roster and the mode you want should guide the choice between editions, whether it is a basketball career, team management, or wrestling’s creation and story modes.
Soccer beyond EA Sports FC
eFootball Kick-Off offers another dedicated Switch 2 soccer option, including World Tour and a smaller-sided way to play. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road takes a different route, combining football matches with character development and a story-driven RPG structure.
The distinction is useful when choosing for another player: enjoying licensed club football does not automatically mean wanting a soccer RPG, and the reverse is also true.
What about racing skating and arcade sports?
Mario Kart World and Fast Fusion were both available on the console’s June 5, 2025 launch day. Mario Kart World brings connected environments, 24-driver races, and Knockout Tour. Fast Fusion focuses on high-speed futuristic racing. I was curious about Fast Fusion when it flashed through the original reveal reel; its release has since turned that brief glimpse into an actual option for arcade-racing fans.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 also made its July 11 launch on Switch 2. There is no longer a separate Summer 2025 wait to explain. Its remade parks and familiar trick-based scoring give the lineup a different rhythm from racing or full-length team matches.
Drag x Drive is still the unusual proposition that caught my attention: three-on-three wheelchair basketball, with the two Joy-Con 2 mouse controls handling movement and play. The concept appeals to me precisely because it asks something different from a conventional basketball game. Learning to coordinate those actions is part of the attraction, and part of the challenge.
Mario Tennis Fever adds arcade tennis, PGA Tour 2K25 supplies golf, and Fitness Boxing 3’s Switch 2 Edition offers a workout-focused alternative. Winning Post 10 2026 serves horse-racing and management fans, with the Japanese release clearly separated in the schedule.
Is MLB The Show a native Switch 2 game?
MLB The Show 25 and MLB The Show 26 are original Switch releases that can be played on Switch 2 through compatibility. That is useful support for baseball fans, but it is different from a separate native Switch 2 edition.
The earlier expectation that MLB The Show would eventually reach the newer hardware should therefore be read carefully: compatibility already provides a way to play, while a new native edition needs its own announcement. Mario Strikers: Battle League and Mario Golf: Super Rush similarly expand the available sports library as older Switch games.
The practical check is the platform label. Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition describe different products or upgrade arrangements, even when all three appear in a search on the newer system.
